Bromelain is a group of enzymes found in pineapple. Biomed Bromelain provides it as a standardised extract measured in GDU, gelatin digesting units, which is the standard way enzyme activity is expressed. One capsule contains 750 GDU, equivalent to 300 mg of bromelain.

GDU is worth paying attention to when comparing bromelain products, because milligrams alone say nothing about enzyme activity. Two products with the same milligram figure can differ considerably.

Composition

Besides the extract the capsule contains rice starch and maltodextrin as a carrier, and the shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose rather than gelatine.
